World Island

The World Islands in United Arab Emirates is a collection of 300 man-made private islands strategically planned to shape like the world’s map. These artificial lands are divided into four categories – private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. Choose your preferred extravagant stay and leave your thoughts to peace and calm, feel your body relax and your expressions feasibly brighten up.

The artificial island is 4km away from Jumeirah, and the means of transport in between islands are either by marine or air transport, an opportunity to take in the magnificent sea creatures translucently hidden in the clear sea.

The World islands are composed mainly of sand dredged from Dubai’s shallow coastal waters, and are one of several artificial island developments in Dubai. Construction of the 300 islands began in 2003 but it experienced a brief halt due to the 2008 financial crisis. While 60 percent of the islands had been sold off to private contractors, there are only two islands that have been developed.

The World is a visionary project from Nakheel, who wanted to show the vision of Dubai within this 300 islands. The city’s premier development company, Nakheel echos the city’s ambitious rise with passion and imagination.
