While lamenting about the perpetual summer in Singapore, we’ve gotta admit that engaging in water sports certainly makes for a fun escape from the heat! 

Granted, most of us would associate water sports with kayaking and canoeing. However, many others have gained popularity in recent years too, such as stand up paddling, wakeboarding, windsurfing, and more! 

On that note, we’ve rounded up some of the best places in Singapore for water sports. Best of all, many of these places are affordable, too. 

1. East Coast Park

Lagoon Food Village — i.e. East Coast Park’s famous hawker centre — is in close proximity to the area’s water sports centres!

Aloha Sea Sports Centre

Firstly, Aloha Sea Sports Centre offers a myriad of water sports that use the windy weather to its advantage. Whether you’re thinking of windsurfing, stand up paddling, or sailing, you can definitely find something that suits you here. Even beginners with zero experience are welcome!

Best of all, the onsite Beach Bar & Cafe is perfect for getting some much-needed fuel after your workout sesh!

Next, Singapore Wake Park is hard to miss for any passers-by; this circular water playground stands out with its cable skis that stretch from one end to the other! 

Wakeboarding here is as safe and beginner-friendly as it gets. However, that’s not to say that you won’t be getting your fix of an adrenaline rush and fun as well! Whether you’re six years old or an experienced rider, you can definitely find a difficulty level that suits you at Singapore Wake Park.

Rates differ depending on the size of the boat, and can accommodate a group of five people (four of you plus the instructor). So, simply grab three of your closest friends and enjoy an adrenaline-filled afternoon riding through the water!

Want to spend the last hours of daylight taking in the picturesque sunset? Then, head to Lower Seletar Reservoir Park, one of Singapore’s best sunset spots, and paddle through its waters!

If you live in the east and want a family fun day in the sun, head to Ohana Beach House! There’s a myriad of equipment rentals to choose from; beyond the kayaks and stand up paddling boards, you can even rent a sea cycle or water trampoline, too.

7. Kallang 

Kayaking around Kallang via the Singapore River is perhaps what comes to mind when thinking of water sports in Singapore. And, it’s no surprise too; the spectacular views and peaceful waters are also home to the city’s most iconic sights and the dome-shaped Singapore Indoor Stadium.

At the Water Sports Centre in Singapore Sports Hub, choose from either canoeing, kayaking, or dragon boating! Visitors can engage in a full-day programme, or rent the respective boats (some of these require a certificate).

Personally, the Water Sports Centre is my go-to if I ever feel like kayaking, as their rates are among one of the cheapest in Singapore! Above all, the picturesque city views are a bonus cherry on top to a lovely afternoon.
