In a bid to bring Americans together this coming November holiday, chocolate brand Reese’s ended decades of what’s-the-best-Thanksgiving-pie debates by creating one to rule all Thanksgiving spreads: the Reese’s giant peanut butter cup.
And in case you need it spelled out for you, these bad boys are as big as pies; think pure Reese’s peanut butter cup goodness in all its 3.25-pound, 9-inch diameter glory.
According to a statement by Bo Jones, senior associate brand manager at Reese’s, “When you bring together friends and family for Thanksgiving dinner, no table spread is complete without dessert. At Reese’s, we wanted to create a dessert that everyone wants a piece of. You can thank us later.”
Reese’s pie-sized peanut butter cup sold out in less than two hours
Indeed, Reese’s giant peanut butter cup — err, we mean, pie — proved to be “a dessert that everyone wants a piece of.” It sold out on the Hershey’s website in less than two hours from its launch.
Reese’s giant peanut butter cup retailed at US$44.99 a piece; and reportedly, only 3,000 pies were sold. Whoever these 3,000 people were, consider yourselves lucky.
Do you think these Reese’s peanut butter pies should be made available in Asia, too? Reese’s, don’t keep us waiting.
