The Bangkok Metropolitan Region will experience temperatures as low as 16°C, with the coldest periods expected between December and January. What’s more, residents and visitors can expect light fog in the early morning and a moderate chance of rain in the central region in late October.

The northern part of Thailand is expected to experience some of the coldest weather conditions in the country, with temperatures dropping to as low as 6°C. The TMD urges drivers in the north to always practise caution, especially early in the morning when thick fog and freezing conditions at higher altitudes pose minimal visibility.

Meanwhile, heavy rains and high waves are predicted with a 60% chance of occurrence down south of Thailand. Best to plan your trip accordingly if you’re expecting a tropical holiday getaway this year!

Tips for travellers visiting Bangkok during cold season

  • Pack enough warm clothing: Be prepared for cooler temperatures by packing warm clothes like sweaters, jackets, and scarves.
  • Stay informed about weather updates: Always be on the lookout for weather forecasts from the TMD to stay informed about any changes or advisories regarding weather conditions not just in Bangkok, but the whole of Thailand.
  • Take precautions during outdoor activities: Be cautious during outdoor activities, especially in the north and south where weather conditions can be more extreme.
  • Plan your travel accordingly: Consider the weather conditions when planning your trip to Bangkok, especially if you have outdoor activities planned.
