Revival of a Trusted Name

StarCruises was once a leading cruise brand in Asia. It halted operations in January 2022, when its former parent company, Genting Hong Kong, went out of business. In June that same year, Mr Lim Kok Thay, previously Genting’s main shareholder, established Resorts World Cruises. This new venture revived StarCruises and introduced Dream Cruises to cater to different travelling styles.

After an extensive refurbishment, the Star Voyager promises a bright, modern cruising environment. It features redesigned cabins, varied dining choices and a range of onboard entertainment. Sailings can last from one night to five nights, allowing guests to visit multiple destinations in one trip. For instance, a three-night journey from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City, stopping at Melaka, costs around S$207 for a one-way voyage in July 2025.

Resorts World Cruises has split its portfolio into two main offerings: StarCruises and Dream Cruises. StarCruises appeals to passengers who prefer more accessible pricing and a relaxed atmosphere. Ships under the line are designed to accommodate around 2,000 guests. Meanwhile, Dream Cruises is aimed at premium travellers. The line is represented by the 3,352-passenger Genting Dream, known for its upscale amenities and immersive onboard activities. The Star Navigator (previously Resorts World One) will soon join the Star Voyager in the StarCruises fleet.

Resorts World Cruises has welcomed nearly two million passengers since launching in 2022, showing the strong appeal of cruising in the region. The Star Voyager will homeport at Singapore Cruise Centre until July 2025, boosting both inbound and outbound tourism. According to Mr Michael Goh, president of the cruise lines, multiple homeports, such as Bangkok and Jakarta, also reinforce Singapore’s standing as a key gateway for regional exploration.

The Star Voyager’s range of itineraries offers flexibility, updated facilities and competitive pricing. Choose a quick one-night break or a more leisurely five-night escape to explore Southeast Asia’s vibrant ports.
