Attention all adventurers! Getting from Singapore to Bangkok overland might just become much easier than ever before.
The High Speed Rail (HSR) between Singapore and KL is already in the pipeline, and we’ve heard another exciting piece of news: Malaysia and Thailand are now in the talks about a potential HSR between Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok too!
Get excited because the floodgates to seamless exploration across the region may just open.

What’s awesome is that, if successful, these talks would extend the current construction for an eight-station, 350km-long HSR between Singapore and KL by a whopping 1,500km!
The dream of a pan-Asia railway network might actually become reality, and we might be able to trade in those tiresome airplane flights for a much more affordable and bullet-quick alternative in the future.
For now, you can await a cosy carriage sojourn from SG to KL starting from as early as 31 Dec 2026.

Imagine traversing across the panoramic countryside scenery from the hustle of KL to the bustle of Bangkok – all in under six hours! But of course, we all know it’s the journey, not the destination, that counts. With easy access to so many landmarks, you’ll be buzzing to hop off the train and indulge in some fun-in-the-sun.
We’re hoping the railway will make a pitstop by some of these attractions.
Langkawi

Some of the most beautiful islands are tucked away in Kedah’s crown jewel. You can expect to be greeted by romantic stretches of white sandy beaches, lively night markets, cascading waterfalls and even an underwater marine park teeming with colourful wildlife in Pulau Langkawi.
Krabi

Beach please! Krabi will bless you with that summer vibin’ all year around. Wade in the calm sea or dig your feet into the soft brittle sand. From the quiet beaches of Koh Lanta Yai island to popular spectacles like the Phi Phi island, Krabi is your go to place for your dose of tropical paradise.
Phetchaburi

If you get sick of the sun and sea, switch it up on the mainland in the Phetchaburi Province’s capital. With ancient temples standing tall alongside towering skyscrapers, the city’s healthy mix of past and present will bring out the culture vulture in you.
So pray that a KL-Bangkok line actually happens! It’ll be fantastic to take a leisurely train ride through these three Southeast Asian giants. The line would also help kick start your overland adventure from Singapore to Europe. For the sake of all travellers, we hope the line gets constructed!
