Animal cafés are increasingly gaining popularity all around the world, and Thailand has also seen its fair share of these cafés popping up all over the country. But what makes Thailand’s animal cafés stand out from the rest of the scene is the fact that they’re not your regular dog or cat cafés. From rabbits and huskies to exotic species like foxes, you’re in for a café experience unlike any other.
Most of these cafés are based in the Thai capital of Bangkok, but we’ve also included some that can be found in other parts of Thailand – for those of you who want to get away from the bustling city, but don’t want to miss out on this experience.
1. Little Zoo Cafe (Bangkok)
Home to a variety of animals, it’s no surprise how the café got its name – a visit here will make you feel as if you’re visiting a mini zoo. With different species of cats, dogs and birds roaming around the café, there’s surely an animal that’ll catch your eye here. But that’s not all, Little Zoo Cafe also boasts meerkats, a raccoon, an Arctic fox and a Fennec fox for you to get up close and personal with! Fun fact: All of the animals are actually part of the café owner’s personal collection, so you can be rest assured that they are well taken care of.
You can enter the café by purchasing a pair of socks. Now, before you frown at the weird practice of buying socks just to enter the café, have you seen these socks? They come in a range of different designs and colours, and can make your feet look a little more like the animals themselves!
Address: Sukothai Ave 99, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, Thailand 11120
Admission fee: THB 30 (~S$1.25, for a pair of socks)
2. The Animal Cafe Restaurant (Bangkok)
This is another café with an array of different animals. Featuring large-eyed owls, adorable chinchillas, beautiful caracals, and a nimble fennec fox among many others, we guarantee that you’ll be cooing endlessly during your visit here.
The café’s menu offers a good selection of food and drinks that will fill your tummies while you have fun with the animals and take loads of pictures. The food might be a little bit on the pricier side, but it’s because the café needs the funds to ensure the welfare of the animals. When you think of it this way, it’s all really worth it, isn’t it?
Address: Sathupradit 19 Sathupradit Rd. Yannawa Bangkok, Thailand 10120
Admission fee: All customers are required to buy at least one main and one drink to be able to play with the animals
3. TrueLove at Neverland (Bangkok)
If you’re a fan of Siberian Huskies, TrueLove at Neverland would be the definition of heaven for you. Here, there are over 20 (yes, you heard us right!) Siberian Huskies for you to play with in a sheltered outdoor pen. There are two stipulated play times throughout the day at 12.30pm and 3.30pm, both an hour each, so remember to keep that in mind when you’re planning a visit here! Besides Siberian Huskies, there are also other adorable dogs that you’ll fall helpless in love with there too!
As the café has a first-come-first-serve system, they recommend patrons to come half an hour before each session to avoid disappointment. Buying an admission ticket grants you a slice of cake, a drink of your choice as well as an hour with the huskies.
Address: 153 Soi Ari Samphan 2, Samsen Nai, Phaya Thai Bangkok, Thailand 10400
Admission fee: THB 350 (~S$14.50)
4. Rabbito’ Cafe’ (Bangkok)
One of those animal cafés that are still relatively under the radar, a visit to Rabbito’ Cafe’ will promise you a small crowd and plenty of time to interact with the cute little creatures. Apart from rabbits, the café also houses guinea pigs under the same roof. Most of the rabbits and guinea pigs are allowed to roam freely around the place, so you don’t have to worry about not having a chance to play with them.
You can order food and drink sets from the café’s menu, which comes together with a small box of rabbit food for you to feed the animals. Should you choose not to order anything, you can also purchase the rabbit food at THB 50!

This is one dog café that really takes it up a notch to set itself apart from all the other dog cafés out there. How, you ask? Not only does the café serve up delicious food for customers, there are also yummy meal options for the dogs too. Now you can finally have a meal together with your lovely companion, without your dog looking on in envy. 6. Big Dog Cafe (Bangkok)
If you’re a big fan of dogs, this is one dog café that you don’t want to miss! Just like its name suggests, this café is full of big dogs – with over 20 of them all excitedly waiting to play with you. Get this precious chance to hang out with rare breeds like Alaskan Malamutes, Chow Chows, and more! Don’t be astonished if some of them tower over you when they stand up – they are huge but incredibly cuddly too. You can even try to carry them like a huge baby, or give them a good ol’ piggyback!
But dogs aren’t the only thing that Big Dog Cafe is doing right – their menu is pretty impressive too. We heard that they make a pretty mean chocolate dessert called “Premium Boston Brown Bonanza” and the only way to find out if that’s true, is to go taste it for yourself! As the café is reservations-only, be sure to make yours in advance and secure a slot because the café is extremely popular! It’s also recommended that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the round starts if you would like to slowly enjoy your food. (There are five rounds every day: 9.30am – 11.30am, 12pm – 2pm, 2.30pm – 4.30pm, 5pm – 7pm and 7.30pm – 9.30pm.)
