Annabel PangConstructed to service a whopping 700,000 passengers yearly, Seletar Airport’s new passenger terminal is the talk of the town. In anticipation of growing jet traffic, the airport has undergone an S$80 million facelift and the new terminal is expected to open its doors in December 2018. More than six times larger than the current terminal, passengers can hope to enjoy a comfortable flight experience here.
Let’s jump ahead and get a glimpse of what we can expect from this up and coming airport.
Firefly-ing from Seletar
A lovely accompaniment to the new terminal is Firefly, a budget airline carrier that is currently operating turboprop flights between Changi Airport and places like Subang, Ipoh and Kuantan (Malaysia). It will cease operations in Changi Airport when the new terminal is ready. And this spells good news: Firefly passengers will only need to pay S$29 instead of S$47.30 per person in airport taxes after the move. Sweet!

Bigger Space
Hate the crowd? Want your own personal space? The new terminal delivers just that! For starters, they’ve expanded the arrival and departure halls to accommodate high numbers of visitors. The departure area can now comfortably fit 200 pax. What’s more, it even features four check-in counters, six immigration lanes and two security screening stations.
For passengers travelling on chartered business flights and private jets, there’s even space for your own private drop-off and your very own waiting lounge!

Increased Efficiency
Being a subsidiary of Changi Airport Group (CAG), visitors can expect the same exceptional service and efficiency at Selatar Airport. By positioning three aircraft parking stands right next to the terminal, passengers will be able to quickly board and disembark from the plane. This means more punctual take-offs and landings, and translates to an overall shorter waiting time. Yes please!

Despite everything appearing to be in order, dining and shopping options pale in comparison. At present, the terminal only has one dining place — a kiosk serving quick bites, and it doesn’t have any duty-free stores. Yet. Until then, we’ll continue to keep our eyes peeled for more updates.
