Every year, there are about 30 meteor showers that we could visibly see from Earth and for some of them, it’s a once-in-a-century occurrence!
What exactly is a meteor shower then? Well, according to NASA, a meteor shower occurs when Earth passes through the trail of debris left by a comet or asteroid. As all showers have their own active periods in Singapore, the coming Quadrantids Meteor Shower is to reach its peak between the 3rd and 4th of January this year.
Where to Catch the Meteor Shower in Singapore
The best way to watch the meteor shower is to get to a location with minimal light pollution and a clear view of the night sky. Why? Being in a darker spot allow for the human eyes to adjust and adapt to the lack of light making the skies appear more visible!
If you can, find a location that is away from city lights and traffic. Maybe grab your sleeping bags and tents for a night’s out where you can get unobstructed views! Some of the recommended places to go to catch the best sight is Mount Faber, Tampines Eco Green, Pulau Ubin and Sungei Buloh.
