What is BeOnd?
BeOnd is a Maldivian airline headquartered in Dubai and based at Velana International Airport near the capital of the Maldives, Malé. Founded in 2022, this new airline began operating commercial flights in November 2023.
With a focus on offering luxury experiences, BeOnd markets itself as an “all-premium flight experience” — its fleet of luxurious aircraft (which consists of two Airbuses) features all-business class cabins, catering to an exclusive number of passengers for each flight.
What it’s like to fly with BeOnd
Flying with BeOnd is a luxury experience in and of itself. Beyond the usual perks of flying in an upgraded cabin class — premium lounge access, spacious seats, gourmet meals in the air, impeccable service, and more, passengers are also picked up at their hotel by a personal driver in a limousine.
With limited passengers for each flight, checking in and boarding the flight is a seamless experience with minimal waiting time. Once in the air, expect unparalleled comfort and luxury. Think bespoke dining experiences akin to a three-course meal at a fine-dining restaurant, and personalised in-flight entertainment options.
Where can you fly to?
At the moment, BeOnd operates a limited number of flights between Male (Maldives) and several popular tourist locations in Europe, namely Zurich (Switzerland), Milan (Italy), and Munich (Germany), all of which include a refuelling stop in Dubai (UAE). In addition, it offers flights to and from the city of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.
Based on the flight map on BeOnd’s official website, there appear to be plans to expand its network of flight routes to other destinations, including cities in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, and Singapore. That said, it is unclear when these new routes will be available or if the expansion will indeed move ahead, as the airline recently had to cancel its planned route to Bangkok, Thailand.
How much does it cost?
The premium experience, unsurprisingly, comes with a premium price. The price of a ticket on a BeOnd all-business class flight differs based on the selected route and flight schedule. A return flight between Male and Riyadh costs between $3,000 (S$4,000) to $4,000 (S$5,500), while a typical two-way flight between Male and Zurich starts from $5,000 (S$6,800).
Take note that the airline operates different routes on different days due to its limited fleet and that currently, all European flights make a refuelling stop in Dubai. Flights can be booked via BeOnd’s official website.
