Where are the friendliest countries in the world? Most travellers will usually point you in the direction of Southeast Asia, and so will a recent poll from British travel guide book publisher Rough Guides. The London-based company conducted a reader’s poll and compiled answers through Twitter and Facebook to figure out which countries had the nicest locals you’ll ever meet.
“Cambodia was by far the top answer in our poll and a popular choice among staff members and Rough Guides Twitter followers alike,” says the guide book publisher. Other Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and Indonesia also dominated the list, proving each country’s reputation for world-class hospitality and the kindness of their residents.
