The largest revamp project in the industry
Emirates’ first fully upgraded Boeing 777 took to the skies after a remarkable 37-day makeover. This refurbished aircraft, EK 83, made its inaugural flight to Geneva four days earlier than planned. Emirates aims to revamp 80 more Boeing 777s, with Tokyo and Brussels among the upcoming destinations for these upgraded planes. A spokesperson from Emirates said that this project is the “largest known retrofit programme in the industry, an investment of over US$3 billion to deliver the best products and customer experience in the air.”
Premium features and aesthetic overhauls: Inside the 777 retrofit
Emirates’ in-house team of 175 engineers and technicians meticulously designed and executed the Boeing 777 retrofit. Working tirelessly at Emirates Engineering in Dubai, the team completely revamped the aircraft, incorporating new features, luxurious interiors, and a range of premium onboard amenities.
Introducing the Premium Economy Cabin
The highlight of the retrofit is the luxurious new Premium Economy Cabin. With 24 seats in a comfortable 2-4-2 configuration, this cabin offers ample space and legroom. Each seat features plush cream leather upholstery and wood panel accents, creating a sophisticated travel experience.
Economy and business class upgrades
The refreshed Economy Class Cabin features 256 ergonomic seats in soothing blues and greys. With full leather headrests and adjustable side panels, these seats provide optimal comfort for every traveler.
The Business Class cabin, reminiscent of the Emirates A380, features 38 seats in a spacious 1-2-1 configuration. Passengers can relax in luxurious cream leather seats with champagne accents, complemented by lighter wood paneling and a range of modern amenities. These seats, measuring a generous 20.7 inches wide, can be transformed into comfortable flatbeds with a recline of 78.6 inches.
The Business Class experience is enhanced with features like a padded headrest, direct access to the aisle, a personal minibar, multiple charging options, a large 23-inch HD screen, and a convenient touchscreen seat controller for entertainment and seat adjustments. Business Class passengers can also enjoy a dedicated bar serving refreshments during the flight.
In its line up of refurbished A380 aircraft fitted with Premium Economy, Emirates currently operates flights that fly to the rest of the world, including Singapore.
