Alternatively, customers can bring their own sneakers to paint on, with prices starting at $40 for a two-hour workshop or $50 for a three-hour session.

2. Pottery painting at PotteryPlease

A cheaper alternative to actual pottery, this activity invites customers to paint and decorate pre-made pieces of pottery. Customers will first choose from a wide selection of unpainted ceramic pieces such as plates, cups and bowls. Afterwards, they get to personalize their pottery pieces with the variety of paint materials, brushes, and stencils provided at the studio. Staff members are also stationed at the studio to guide first-timers through the experience. After the painting process, the pottery pieces will be glazed and fired by the studio. Customers can then collect their completed masterpieces one month later. Completed pieces are food-safe and dishwasher-safe. 

The cost is a one-time payment of $28 made during the online booking process. This includes a 1.5-hour painting session, the glazing and firing service, and all the materials (brushes, aprons, palettes) required for the activity. However, customers have to pay an additional fee for the ceramic piece chosen at the studio, with prices starting from $8. 

3. DIY art activities at Pluto Studio

Also situated at Queensway shopping centre, Pluto Studio is an art studio with a variety of DIY art activities. 

• Figurine Painting:

  • Handmade figurine and tray designs are provided for customers to choose from and personalize. The painted masterpieces can be collectable items or used to organize your jewellery and keys. Paint brushes and paint are provided, with a top-up of $1.20 for an optional takeaway glaze to be painted on after the surface is fully dried.

• Moru Doll Making:

• • Price: $21 per pax for 2 Moru Dolls
  • You may have seen these Moru Dolls grow in popularity recently as bag accessories and bag charms. In this session, customers get to make a Moru Doll from scratch. Customers can choose different clothing or accessories to personalize their Moru dolls. Price is subject to add-on prices based on the materials or accessories used.

• Decoden:

• • Price: $20 for 1-hour studio fee and additional product fees with prices ranging from $0.50-$20
  • Customers get to decorate everyday functional products like claw clips, mirrors and phone cases with cream and charms.

• Beading:

• • Price: $36 for 1-hour studio fee
  • Customers can make an unlimited number of accessories (necklaces, bracelets or phone straps) with all beads and materials available to them. Hardware assembly is done by staff at the studio, with a 30-90 minute waiting time for collection after the session.

4. Make-a-ring workshop at 28mm Studios

In this workshop, customers will learn silversmithing techniques to craft their own silver ring. Customers can enjoy complimentary refreshments during the workshop, and tripods and photography services are provided for customers to remember the experience. 

For weekday prices, the workshop costs $138 for one pax and $125 per pax for groups of 2-6 pax. On weekends, the workshop costs $158 for one pax and $145 per pax for groups of 2-6 pax. Coming for the workshop with a friend or partner provides a better deal, where it costs $250 per pair on weekdays and $290 per pair on weekends.
