A few weeks back, we saw a TikTok video from an Australian athlete showing safety protocols in the Olympic Village, specifically for eating. But have you ever wondered what sorts of delicious food they had at the Olympic Village dining hall?
Well, thanks to videos from several athletes, we were able to get a sneak peek. Here’s what went down at the 44-hectare Olympic Village in Harumi, Chuo.

Fun fact: The Tokyo Olympic Village had two dining halls that offered over 700 meal options all day, every day! From pizza, sushi, and pasta, to vegan, gluten-free, and halal options, the lineup has definitely catered to the athletes’ various dietary requirements. With such an amazing selection, many athletes took to TikTok to rave about their favourites from the Olympic Village dining hall.

Erik Shoji from the United States raved about the Japanese food they had. His faves included sushi rolls, gyoza, and good ol’ curry.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Daria Gavrilova gave a virtual tour of the Olympic Village dining hall. She even commented on how the food options from this year seemed a lot better than the ones from Rio de Janeiro in 2016. (Man, we wish we could relate.)

Not to be dramatic, but Ilona Maher from the United States claims that the gyozas served at the Olympic Village were the best she has ever had. She loved it so much that she had it for every meal!
