Jaime LeeWeary travellers stuck at home, rejoice! Japan Rail Pass (JRPass) has curated a collection of Japan’s top 20 virtual tours for you to fulfil your wanderlust while you’re homebound.
Wander down Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, or marvel at the fleeting beauty of delicate cherry blossoms. One can also savour the sunrise from the peak of Mount Fuji, or hop aboard a virtual train ride. What’s more, not only do you get to enjoy these gorgeous virtual tours; you can now stand a chance to get paid to virtually travel to these breathtaking locations!
JRPass is launching a social media contest-cum-job application where participants have to review one of Japan’s virtual destinations. The winner will be JRPass’ (and the world’s!) first virtual travel tester and will receive a cash reward as remuneration for the virtual travel reviewer gig.

How to enter the JRPass contest
- Post a throwback photo of you on any holiday and share your review of at least one of the virtual travel locations collated by JRPass in your caption.
- Share your post/review with JRPass on social media by following and tagging @JRPass on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #JapanVirtualTravel.
Tip: Post a throwback photo of your favourite travel memory in Japan to increase your chances of winning the contest and getting the travel tester job!
Applications are open to residents of all locations and each participant is only allowed to submit one review of their favourite JRPass travel location. The cut-off date for all entries is 20 July 2020. Subsequently, JRPass will be reaching out to the winner via social media. The winner is expected to be announced on 22 July 2020. What’s in it for you?
As far as we know, JRPass will be giving the winner a cash reward of £200 (~S$354) net. JRPass will be selecting the winner based on the best review submitted. This is enough for us to go scrambling to find our old holiday photos! But take note that the virtual travel tester job is only a part-time, one-time project. JRPass won’t be hiring any full-timers for now.
