Hold your horses, fellow travellers! If you thought you knew the best airports in the world, it’s time to rethink. Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has just snatched the top spot for service quality, outshining over 355 other airports worldwide!
According to the Airports Council International (ACI), KLIA scored a perfect 5.00 in the Global Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Performance Rankings for the third quarter of 2024. That’s right, a full five out of five! This means passengers were thrilled with everything from the moment they stepped foot into the terminal to the time they boarded their flight.

What made KLIA the world’s best?
KLIA’s performance exceeded the global average satisfaction score of 4.32, as well as the regional average of 4.77 for the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, KLIA outperformed the average score of airports handling over 40 million passengers annually, which is 4.42.
The Malaysian airport achieved perfect scores in several categories, including customs clearance, where it ranked first out of 20 airports globally. KLIA also topped the rankings for the Asia-Pacific region (out of 100 airports) and airports handling over 40 million passengers annually (out of 41 airports).
The survey, conducted between July and September 2024, involved 352 passengers aged 16 and over. A total of 355 airports participated in the ASQ Departures Main Programme during this period.

This isn’t just a local win; it’s a global triumph. KLIA outperformed airports across the Asia-Pacific region and even those handling over 40 million passengers annually. This marks the second time KLIA has topped the charts in the Asia Pacific region. Previously, it has taken the spot as the fourth most Instagrammable airports surpassing Changi Airport at the fifth place.
