12 Mexican Restaurants in Singapore With Delicious Food & Tantalising Margaritas

Psst — these restaurants all rank 4.0 stars or above on Google!

Mexican restaurants in Singapore are some of my favourite establishments to visit. I can always expect picturesque interiors and a lively atmosphere while I tuck into juicy bites of meat and sip on a pitcher of refreshing margaritas. Thus, from Holland Village and Dempsey Hill, to Robertson Quay and Beach Road, here are some of my favourite Mexican restaurants in Singapore!

Mexican restaurants in Singapore near the Singapore River

1. Super Loco

Looking for a waterfront Mexican restaurant in Singapore that’s a treat for both your tastebuds and eyes? Then be sure to visit Super Loco! Both its outlets are located by the Singapore River, and therefore aren’t too far away from each other.

If you prefer the vibrant neon colours of Mexican restaurants, add Super Loco Robertson Quay to your weekend itinerary. Alternatively, if you’d rather dine al fresco by the waterfront, Super Loco Customs House is the perfect place to be. Either way, these Mexican restaurants in Singapore offer nearby landscapes that make for a picturesque post-dinner walk.

If you’re in the mood for a tapas dining style, order their Baja Fish and Pork Belly tacos: expect juicy bites of flavourful meat topped with complementary flavours of mango and apple! On the other hand, if you’ve arrived with a bigger appetite, try their Beef Quesadilla, or choose from their range of hearty main dishes; though the latter choices are a little pricier, we’re certain that you’ll leave with your tummy nothing short of satisfied!

Address and opening hours:

  • 60 Robertson Quay, #01-13 The Quayside, Singapore 238252: Monday to Friday, 11.30am to 10.30pm; Saturday to Sunday, 9am to 10.30pm
  • 70 Collyer Quay, #01-04 Customs House, Singapore 049323: Monday to Saturday, 11.30am to 10.30pm

2. Café Iguana

Perhaps one of the better known Mexican restaurants in Singapore, Café Iguana has been around since 2000 and calls the Clarke Quay area its home. They’re known for their fresh ingredients and flavours, plus a wide selection of craft beers and premium tequilas!

The first thing to order is the Salsa Flow; from its name, you can expect a free flow of tortilla chips served with five authentic Mexican dips. Next, move onto the main dishes: The classic burrito is a popular dish here, and you can choose from Red Snapper, Beef, Pulled Pork, and more. Furthermore, the Tequila Grill is another highlight too, which features lime and tequila marinated meats, like Prawn Skewers, Half Chicken, and New York Steak! (And how about a round of tequila shots while you’re at it?)

Address: 30 Merchant Road #01-03 Riverside Point, 058282
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 10.30pm; Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 10.30pm

3. Muchachos

Muchachos is situated in the heart of Singapore’s CBD. This Mexican restaurant in Singapore is also one of the cheapest, with most of its items under S$15! Also, their menu is the definition of no-frills. First, choose your protein (or have it vegetarian, if you prefer); then, decide if you want a burrito, taco, or quesadilla.

If you’re dining with a bigger group, how about ordering some affordable side dishes, like Carne Asada Fries or Elotes (grilled corn)? Psst — the Frozen Margarita here is only S$10.50, certainly one of the cheapest around!

Address: 182 Cecil St, #01-01 Frasers Tower, Singapore 069547
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 11am to 9pm

4. Vatos Urban Tacos

Located in what I think is one of the prettiest buildings in Singapore, South Beach Tower is home to many cool restaurants, one of which is Vatos Urban Tacos. Interestingly, it’s known for being Singapore’s few (perhaps, only) Korean-Mexican fusion restaurants!

Therefore, besides the classic Grilled Chicken and Carne Asada options, you can even order the quesadillas and tacos with Korean-inspired flavours like Korean Pork Belly and Kimchi Pork! Most of all, the quesadillas here are among the best, as the tortillas are fried with a Grilled Monterey Jack and Cheddar Cheese Crust. I mean, doesn’t that sound absolutely mouth-watering?

Address: 36 Beach Rd, #01-03 South Beach Quarter, Singapore 189766
Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 12pm to 10.30pm; Sunday, 12pm to 10pm

5. Cuba Libre

Named after the classic rum and coke, Cuba Libre is a Cuban restaurant in Singapore that serves Mexican cuisine. Although it lies on the pricier end, the quality of food here is one of the best, too! Thus, it’s an ideal place for a special occasion (or you know, just a Friday night).

For starters, order the Tapas Platter, which consists of bite-sized delights of toasted baguette slices topped with Serrano Ham, Smoked Salmon, Garlic Mushrooms, and Chicken. Once you’re ready to order the main course, go for the Salmon Grille, served with a side of citrus salsa, and a Tex-Mex sharing platter. Crowd favourites include the Pulled Beef and Pulled Pork, which are melt-in-your-mouth tender.

Address: 3B River Valley Rd, Clarke Quay Blk B, #01-13, 179021
Opening hours: Daily, 4pm to 10pm

6. Baja Fresh Mexican Grill Singapore

Since it’s a Mexican fast food restaurant in Singapore, Baja Fresh is perfect to satisfy your Mexican food cravings without having to burn a hole in your wallet! For instance, their breakfast burritos cost less than S$10, while their normal burritos will only set you back S$15. Also, other classics like Quesadillas, Fajitas, and Taquitos are less than S$17.

Plus, since this restaurant is conveniently located near the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade, why not make an afternoon of it by ordering a takeaway and strolling by the river?

7. Muchos

Patrons recognise this Mexican restaurant in Singapore for its impeccable service and big portions. For instance, the best items to order at Muchos are their Beef Nachos, the Muchos Platter, Enchiladas, and Braised Pork Ribs. Therefore, while you’ll have to prepare for your bill to rack up a slightly higher price tag, you’ll certainly be leaving with a tummy that’s completely satisfied, too!

8. Margarita’s Dempsey Hill

Dempsey Hill is one of my favourite hangout spots in Singapore, and there’s a very simple reason why. It’s a playground of gastronomic delights featuring a range of cuisines, where two of the best Mexican restaurants in Singapore reside!

Firstly, Margarita’s Dempsey Hill is Singapore’s oldest Mexican restaurant, dating back to 1988. Thus, it’s fitting that its interior borrows inspiration from the rustic elegance of Old Mexico — think high-beamed ceilings, contemporary artwork, and colourful furniture.

Although the price tag here is on the steeper end, don’t fret; the portion and taste will really make your money’s worth! Crowd favourites include the fajitas “fa-hee-tas,” which come in a range of meat choices, from chicken and beef, to seafood. The elote asados “street corn” makes for a delightful appetiser, too.

Address: 11 Dempsey Rd, Singapore 249673
Opening hours: Daily, 11.30am to 10.30pm

9. La Salsa Kitchen & Bar

Likewise, La Salsa Kitchen & Bar sits just a few steps away from Margarita’s Dempsey Hill! This Mexican restaurant in Singapore prides itself on serving up food with a contemporary twist to Latin and Mexican cuisine.

Start the hearty affair with an entree of Ceviche de Mariscos, which is a zesty combination of mixed seafood or grilled corn with all the fixings of avocados, tomatoes, and onions. For the main show, order the Pulled Pork Chimichangas, Paella Valenciana (seafood paella), and Vieira Molcajete (pan seared scallops). Most importantly, don’t forget to order a jug of Classic Frozen Margarita for the table!

Address: 11 Dempsey Rd, #01-17, Singapore 249673
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 3pm to 11pm; Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 11pm

Mexican restaurants in Singapore located in Holland Village

10. Chimichanga

Holland Village is known for its streets of restaurants and bars. In the evening, the area becomes a car-free zone, lending this spot a buzzing and lively atmosphere of post-work excitement. Thus, it’s also another one of my favourite hangout spots in Singapore!

A perfect place to be right in the heart of this enthusiasm is at Chimichanga, a Mexican restaurant in Singapore that exclusively offers al fresco seating. This joint stands out for its Miami vibes, with beach-themed decor, neon lights, and vibrant technicolour.

To satiate your hunger, Chimichanga is known for their beef dishes, from the Shredded Ancho Beef Chimichanga (or Quesadilla), to the Carne Asada Rice Bowl (which also comes in Tacos and Burritos)! Patrons have praised the tender, juicy, and flavorful steak here, which if you ask me, is reason enough to visit this Mexican restaurant in Singapore!

Besides, with a plethora of fresh fruit frozen margaritas and hand-crafted cocktails, there’s no better place to unwind on a Friday night.

Address and Opening hours:

  • 3 Lor Liput, #01-02/03 Holland Piazza, Singapore 277725: Monday to Friday, 12pm to 10.30pm; Saturday to Sunday, 11am to 10.30pm
  • 36 Dunlop St, Singapore 209364: Monday to Thursday, 12pm to 3pm, 5pm to 10.30pm; Friday to Sunday, 12pm to 10.30pm

11. Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant

Another Mexican restaurant in Holland Village has also made the list: This time, it’s Cha Cha Cha Mexican Restaurant. Having opened its doors in 1990, it’s one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in Singapore, too! It’s a casual dining style with a colourful interior; red and green mosaic tables are set against teal and orange walls.

The Shrimp Chimichangas are a personal favourite of mine, as I can always expect to bite into juicy, flavourful shrimp encrusted with a crispy tortilla. Furthermore, the Pulled Pork and Shredded Beef Quesadillas are crowd pleasers, too — tender and absolutely delicious.

Not to mention, with their 11.30am to 9pm daily happy hour promotion, you can enjoy margaritas with your meal! I’d recommend the Mango and Strawberry Flavoured Margaritas for a fruity delight to the tequila concoction; and of course, ordering a jug is the way to go!

Address: 32 Lor Mambong, Singapore 277690
Opening hours: Daily, 11.30am to 10.30pm

12. El Patio Mexican Restaurant & Wine Bar

Located just next to Cha Cha Cha, El Patio Mexican Restaurant & Wine Bar is yet another joint that adds to the lively atmosphere of Holland Village. Likewise known for their big portions, the Chimichangas are one of the best here. Top the affair off with a jug of El Patio’s Margarita, and you’ll have yourself the perfect meal to end off your Friday with!

Address: 34 Lor Mambong, Singapore 277691
Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 11pm

And there you have it — 12 tantalising Mexican restaurants in Singapore that will seriously satisfy your food cravings. After all, besides flavourful bites of marinated meat with spicy salsa and creamy guacamole, there’s really nothing else you can ask for. (That is, until you peruse the wide selection of margaritas that these restaurants offer!)
