If your dream is to be a footloose nomad, one that country-hops and lets the wind decide where to take you, then this list might be of interest to your wanderlusting soul.
Nomad Capitalist has just released a study detailing the cities across the globe which offer the best quality of life. Their goal is to help nomads and perpetual travellers discover the next “home bases”.
How do they do this? By ranking 100 cities according to factors that are important to nomads: cost of living, work environment, accessibility, safety, entertainment, openness and friendliness and nomad perception.
Here are the results:
1. Hong Kong
2. Dubai
3. Singapore
4. London
5. Lisbon
6. Malta
7. Amsterdam
8. Tbilisi
9. Kuala Lumpur
10. Barcelona
Emerging at the top of the Nomad Quality of Life Index is Hong Kong with a nomad score of 98.2. Other Asian cities on the list include Dubai (90.4), Singapore (88.5) and Kuala Lumpur (76.3).
It’s interesting to note that even though the cost of living makes up 20% of the nomad score, the world’s most expensive cities such as Hong Kong and Singapore made it among the top three.
On the flipside, the city with the worst quality of life for a nomad is Johannesburg (23.06), which scores very low on safety, internet, working environment, accessibility, and openness.
What are your thoughts on this list, and where are you off to next?
