Bled is an Alpine town in north-western Slovenia known for its glacial Lake Bled. Overlooking the lake is a small rock island that should not be missed by visitors, especially the newlyweds. Local tradition says the husband must carry the new bride up the 99 steps of the island. Perched on top of the island is the Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage Church. Legend has it that ringing its bell will bring you good fortune.
