Bordered by the countries of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana, Mount Roraima is one of the oldest geological formations existing on Earth. It is the highest of the Pakaraima chain of tepui plateau in South America that soars more than 8,000 feet into the clouds.
Mount Roraima is so old and extremely high that it looks like a prehistoric island floating above the sky. It remained isolated for millions of years that it became home to some of the rarest flora and fauna found nowhere else on the planet.
While the impressive cliff walls can only be climbed by professional climbers, there is a hiking path up the mountain’s natural ramp-like path which can be hiked in a day or two.
Mount Roraima is culturally significant to the indigenous people that it has been a prominent subject of their myths and folklore. This uniquely isolated geological wonder served as an inspiration for literary and entertainment works like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novel “The Lost World” and 2009 Pixar animated movie “UP”.
Brace yourself and enjoy this exhilarating hover around Mount Roraima.
