Imagine this — you’re on a hike in Mount Fuji in Japan. You’re inhaling the fresh air and admiring the picturesque scenery. All of a sudden, you catch a whiff of the heavenly aroma of pizza, and catch sight of a Domino’s worker hiking ahead of you. Wait, what?

Apparently, on 20 Aug 2022, a hiker on Mount Fuji in Japan had a sudden craving for pizza and decided to order Domino’s. As unbelievable as it might sound, a Domino’s delivery man was later seen hiking up Mount Fuji in his work uniform with a delivery bag on his shoulders!
He allegedly began his journey from the Mt. Fuji Safety Guidance Centre at 7am, and reached the peak three and a half hours later, where he safely delivered the pizza.

A jaw-dropping delivery fee
Though we don’t know specifically what the hiker ordered, we do know what the bill cost: The pizza was ¥3,776 (S$38.35) while the delivery fee was ¥40,000 (S$406.24)! From the Domino’s Pizza restaurant to Mount Fuji’s summit, the whole journey took a total of 5 hours and 49 minutes. There were no additional costs.
While many users online praised him for his efforts and dedication in taking on an extreme delivery request, netizens in Japan revealed that it’s actually a common trend of having food delivered to Mount Fuji. In the past, there have been more Domino’s staff along the Yoshida Trail, as well as delivery riders from UberEats and Demae Can.
