Universal Studios Japan recently opened their Super Nintendo World in March 2021 and announced the new Donkey Kong area to be launched in 2024. But the famous theme park isn’t stopping there. Universal Studios Japan has struck another long-term deal with the one and only Pokemon franchise!
In a news release on Wednesday, 6 Oct 2021, Universal Studios and The Pokemon Company shared that they are embarking on a joint project to explore new entertainment that will immerse guests in the world of Pokemon. According to the release, the new Pokemon theme park in Universal will combine real and virtual activities to create a “revolutionary” experience.
The president and CEO of Universal Studios Japan J.L. Bonnier also expressed, “Pokémon is beloved by fans around the world. We are honored to have a long-term partnership with The Pokémon Company while developing groundbreaking Pokémon entertainment at Universal Studios Japan for both Pokémon fans and our guests.”
As of now, there are no specifics on the planned rides and experiences for guests, and we’ll just have to wait for more details. But this news already has us on the edge of our seats. Although Tokyo created a nature-driven Pokemon theme park this year, it isn’t quite the same as a park with rides and all the fluffy Pokemon merchandise. We’re sure Universal Studios Japan will deliver this and more!
