Phoenix Snow Park – 29 Nov 2024

First up, we have Phoenix Snow Park in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, which opened its slopes on November 29. This popular resort, famed for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, is known for its Olympic-standard freestyle skiing and snowboarding slopes. 

Yongpyong & Alpensia Resorts – 5 & 4 Dec 2024

For those heading to Yongpyong Ski Resort and Alpensia Ski Resort, both opened their slopes on December 5 and December 4, respectively. These resorts are probably two of the most well-known in Korea, offering a variety of slopes, from beginner runs to more challenging terrains. Alpensia, in particular, is famous for its stunning mountain views and extensive amenities, making it a great choice for both skiing and relaxation.

Vivaldi Park & Taebaek O2 Resort – 5 & 6 Dec 2024

Two other major resorts, Vivaldi Park Ski Resort and Taebaek O2 Resort, opened their slopes on December 5 and 6, respectively. Vivaldi Park, located in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, is one of Korea’s most visited resorts. It is especially popular for its après-ski activities, including a full-service spa. Meanwhile, Taebaek O2 Resort offers a more tranquil experience but is still packed with thrilling runs.

High1 Resort – 6 Dec 2024

Next up, High1 Resort in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province, is officially opening its slopes on 6 Dec. Known for its beautiful mountain views and premium ski facilities, High1 is a must-visit for serious skiers. The resort is also offering a premium ski school for beginners, something that has been unavailable since the pandemic.

Elysian Gangchon & Oak Valley – 6 & 15 Dec 2024

Both Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort and Oak Valley Ski Resort are set to open on 6 Dec and 15 Dec, respectively. Elysian Gangchon is a popular choice for those looking for an excellent mix of slopes and snowboarding options. Oak Valley is a family-friendly resort, perfect for those traveling with little ones or beginners.

Eden Valley – 20 Dec 2024

One of the latest openings will be Eden Valley Ski Resort in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, which is set to open its slopes on 20 Dec. While smaller than the resorts up in Gangwon, Eden Valley is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a less crowded experience.

Other ski resorts across Korea, like Jisan Forest Resort, will be opening later in December, with Jisan Forest Resort opening on 12 Dec. Keep in mind, the opening dates for some resorts, such as Konjiam Ski Resort and Welli Hilli Park, are still subject to weather conditions, so stay tuned for updates. These resorts will likely follow the trend of late November to early December openings, depending on snowfall and temperature conditions.
