In South Thailand, over 600,000 households have been affected by the relentless downpours and flash floods. The lives of 12 people have tragically been lost, and thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate their homes and seek refuge in temporary shelters.
Malaysia Faces Widespread Flooding
Across the border in Malaysia, the floods have impacted over 150,000 people across 10 states. The northern state of Kelantan has been particularly hard hit, with at least seven people losing their lives. The number of displaced individuals has surpassed the devastating floods of 2014.
Response Efforts in Thailand and Malaysia
The Thai government has responded to the crisis by allocating emergency funds and deploying relief efforts. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has assured the nation that her government is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to alleviate the suffering of the affected people.
