Jawa Timur Park, also commonly known as Jatim Park, is a complex of three parks, each with its own unique features!
Like its sister theme parks, Jatim Park 3 offers a myriad of activities within its compounds. While Jatim Park 1 is famous for its water rides and Jatim Park 2 is modelled after a zoo, Jatim Park 3 is all about Jurassic Age-themed attractions as well as various futuristic features for family-friendly entertainment. With a total of four different theme parks and even a shopping mall thrown in, how can you resist visiting Jatim Park 3?
Dino Park
Perhaps one of Jatim Park 3’s biggest highlights is its Dino Park. Dinosaur lovers would be thrilled to learn the various key features that this theme park has to offer. Dinosaur replicas are its main highlights, which allow visitors plenty of opportunities to take pictures with their favourite reptiles. The Root Bridge even allows you to get up close with the towering dinosaurs to make sure you get a good selfie even with the taller ones!
The Dino Museum also features even more realistic exhibits, along with tidbits of information about each species. On top of that, each replica comes with its own roar, based on how they would have sounded back when dinosaurs still roamed the world (although to be honest, they could even sound like Daffy Duck and no one would know… ever)! With such extensive information on dinosaurs available, children and adults alike are sure to be in awe.
The fun doesn’t stop there — as a dinosaur-themed amusement park, dinosaur-inspired rides are guaranteed. Board the Dino Train or hop on the “Life With Dinos” ride for the ultimate dinosaur experience. Get your cameras ready as there are plenty of picture-worthy features along the way!
Ice Age
Part of the Dino Park includes an Ice Age-inspired attraction. Decked out in icy decorations and complete with replicas of mammoths and saber-toothed tigers, the Ice Age zone of Dino Park sure does not disappoint. After the excitement from visiting the Dino Park, the snowy landscapes in the Ice Age zone would be the perfect place to chill, no pun intended!
Fun Tech Plaza
A 180° change from the Dino Park, Fun Tech Plaza is all about the future. With many advanced installations and entertaining activities, this theme park is sure to blow you away with its technology. The Virtual 6 is a virtual reality coaster that allows you to feel as though you are flying on a carpet around the fridge. Yes, the fridge! Imagine yourself as a small creature scavenging for snacks with the Virtual 6 and have a blast!
If the adrenaline that Virtual 6 gives you is not enough, take a trip to the Laser Action room to test your spy instincts! Test your agility in this attraction by avoiding the laser triggers, and see if you can come out as the top spy.
The Hunter Bomb activity also offers an exhilarating experience. See how fast your reflexes are by pressing the buttons as soon as the bomb appears on the screen — or risk your life! Don’t worry, this is just a virtual reality so your lives aren’t in actual danger.
The rain simulator is also a fascinating exhibit where the room is equipped with sensors so that visitors get the full experience of walking (or dancing) in the rain without the hassle of getting wet. With realistic visuals and sounds, it’ll be hard to convince yourself it’s not actually raining. Beyond the futuristic technology, this attraction is also a prime photoshoot opportunity. Go all out and reenact your favourite movie scenes and have a blast!
On the other side of the Fun Tech Plaza is a sports complex filled with many action-packed stations. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just a fancier version of a gym! This sports complex incorporates both VR and AR technology to provide a stimulating experience.
The Cyclo Movie station uses such technology by prompting you to cycle according to the path shown on the screen, adding a challenging layer to the sport. See if your reflexes are fast enough to catch up!
If you’ve always wanted to try boxing but feel uncomfortable with the injuries you might sustain, Fun Tech Plaza has the solution for you. On the Boxer Vehicle, you can fight virtually and harmlessly — just follow the movements of previous boxer fighters and tussle your way to victory.
Boxing is just one of many sports you can attempt virtually — Fun Tech Plaza also offers virtual tennis, zumba dance, and even a life-sized version of the popular mobile game, Fruit Ninja! With countless activities to occupy your time, you’ll never want to leave this theme park!
World Music Museum
Succumb to the enchantment of the World Music Museum as melodies fill the air around you. This music-themed amusement park is a paradise for music lovers. Learn about the musical instruments used around the world in a variety of genres and listen to the sounds they make. There are instruments from over 30 countries as well as replicas of the instruments of musical legends including Bob Marley and Koes Plus, Indonesia’s own pop star.
These exhibits are just a small part of the three-storey building that the World Music Museum is in. With plenty of wax figures of famous musicians such as Michael Jackson and The Beatles, the World Music Museum invites you further in for picture mementos. Can’t get to meet your idol in real life? This is your chance!
As an Indonesian attraction, the World Music Museum would not be complete without featuring some Indonesian maestros as well. Besides Koes Plus, other Indonesian musicians include Gesang and Dara Puspita. Their most famous works are proudly displayed in the museum, enticing visitors to get to know more about the local music in Indonesia.
Legend Stars Park
The World Music Museum isn’t the only place where you’ll be able to see wax figures. The Legend Stars Park, as its name suggests, is a grand exhibition with wax sculptures of numerous famous figures around the world. From Michael Jordan to Jackie Chan, the list is endless.
The State Palace in Legend Stars Park is also an essential stop on your visit to Jatim Park 3. Well-known political figures are featured here, right in the replica of the State Palace. Feel like a VIP as you stop to snap some photos with these “politicians”.
The attractions in this theme park doesn’t just stop there, however. In a separate zone are models of different cities around the world, giving you the feeling of travelling as you walk through it! The city models even go a step further to immerse visitors in the city such that they get the full experience. Take the Japanese Winter Village for example — the temperature is altered to be lower than 0°C and you can even experience snow here! “Travel” to Japan, Korea, Beijing and London all in a day in the Legends Stars Park, and have pictures to prove it!
Beyond the four major theme parks found in Jatim Park 3, there are two smaller areas that are also worth a visit. Though not a theme park on their own, these areas also have their own entrance fees. The Infinite World is an area with mesmerising light installations, bathing visitors in a beautiful neon glow. Pictures are definitely compulsory in this attraction!
The other zone, known as the House of Zombie, sounds exactly like its name suggests. With haunting decor and zombie sculptures at every corner, visitors are sure to get spooked. Perhaps this attraction is not for the faint-hearted…
The diversity of the attractions and activities at Jatim Park 3 makes it a popular destination for friends and families to visit. Be it dinosaur lovers, sports lovers or music lovers, there is bound to be an attraction for everyone. As an edutainment amusement park, Jatim Park 3 finds the sweet spot between work and play, bringing the two together in a perfect culmination.
