Best public spaces to catch Singapore Grand Prix 2023

1. Marina Square

As one of Singapore’s largest shopping malls, Marina Square is home to over 200 shops. From fashion and beauty to lifestyle, it has it all. During the F1 season, this already-popular spot becomes packed to the brim with racing fans for a good reason: You can watch the race for free!

For a comfortable view of the circuit, head to the food court on the fourth floor. Make sure you come here early to reserve the window seats, as it gets crowded fast! But if you do not mind braving Singapore’s sweltering weather, head to the roof garden. These outdoor seats offer a better view of the track along Raffles Avenue. Do equip yourself with cold drinks to beat the heat and humidity!

And if the usual watch spots at Marina Square are a little too crowded for your liking, there’s a hidden gem just next door! At the public link bridge between Millenia Walk and Marina Square, you’ll find an elevated view of the race track along Raffles Boulevard. While the view might be slightly obscured by the trees, it’s definitely a cool spot to watch the cars as they make a turn. Remember to grab your spot early so you can get the clearest view of the race!

3. Esplanade Roof Terrace

The Esplanade Roof Terrace is one of the prime locations for catching National Day fireworks as well as picnicking. Hence, it comes as no surprise that this iconic building is among our recommendations for where to watch F1 in Singapore.

The serene roof terrace provides an excellent view of the course, from Raffles Avenue to Esplanade Drive (T13 to T15). Bring along a picnic mat and some food to have a feast while waiting for the race to start!

Perched on the rooftop of the National Gallery Singapore, Smoke & Mirrors is a bar that showcases panoramic views of the Padang Area. At six storeys high, it’s an ideal place for those who want to get close to the action.

This chic cocktail bar is certainly no slouch when it comes to drinks. Their cocktail menu features many unique concoctions with art-inspired names, including The Heart of Vincent and Dali’s Self Portrait. For a thematically fitting option, we recommend Between the F1, which takes inspiration from the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix 2023.

We know what you’re thinking: How could a library possibly be a good place to catch the race? Head to the 12th floor of the building and you’ll find out exactly what we mean!

On this floor, there’s a huge window that provides an expansive view of Suntec City and Marina Bay. Here, you’ll be able to catch the cars racing down Esplanade Bridge and onto Raffles Avenue. Just make sure you keep your voice down; it’s still a library, after all!

6. Helix Bridge

Connecting Marina Centre with Marina South is the Helix Bridge. Despite most of the bridge being closed off by officials during race days, it remains a popular spot to watch F1 in Singapore. And for good reason! The bridge lies close to the Bay Grandstand (T18 to T21) and the ticketing booth. This means viewers will have a close-up of the drivers zipping down the homestretch and crossing the finish line!

Due to the limited space and popularity of the Helix Bridge, we suggest arriving early to “reserve” a spot. This will save you from the hassle of having to fight for space.

For those looking to enjoy the race in the ambience of a bar, the Ce La Vi Rooftop Bar, located on the 57th storey provides a spectacular view of the Marina Bay skyline. If you’re craving a drink, their signature cocktails start at S$25. Nonetheless, the relatively steep prices are worth it as watching the race amidst the backdrop of towering skyscrapers is a truly unique experience!

Here’s another famous hotel for those wondering where to watch F1 in Singapore: The Fullerton Hotel. This five-star hotel rests on the historic Fort Fullerton, which was constructed by British colonials in 1829. The fort was eventually torn down and replaced by the iconic building we see today.

The Fullerton Hotel overlooks the stretch of the race track between T11 and T14 at the corner of Zone 4, known to F1 fans as the toughest turn in the race. It is the best spot to watch your favourite drivers as they navigate the hardest sections of the track.

For a bird’s-eye-view of the event, guests can head to The Lighthouse Restaurant and Rooftop Bar at the pinnacle of the hotel. Have a delectable four-course meal while enjoying a stunning view of the Singapore River

Alternatively, if you won’t be staying at the hotel, you can also head to one of its restaurants located on the 70th floor. We recommend a meal at Equinox Restaurant for excellent food paired with a breathtaking panorama. There are also 14 other bars and restaurants to choose from, catering to a wide variety of tastes.
